‘Wainfleet’s Southern Cross care home deserves praise’

EDITOR - I was somewhat taken aback by recent adverse comments in the media about Southern Cross care homes.

My mother, who is 96 and suffers from severe dementia is a long stay resident at Southern Cross Wainfleet facility.

In all the time she has been there, I have found the staff from the manageress down to be absolutely professional, caring and sympathetic to the needs of both residents and their families, and totally dedicated to the wellbeing of the residents in every way.

The residents have a choice of meals, there is a hairdresser and an ongoing entertainment programme, and the home is spotlessly clean.

I can only assume that the anonymous whistleblower on the recent newscast has a hidden agenda, as I would not hesitate to recommend Southern Cross to anyone who has a beloved, but aged and dependent relative needing care.
