‘Does town really need to invest in website?’

EDITOR - While I respect Mr Dixon’s technical expertise (regarding the story ‘Skegness losing visitors due to invisible web presence’), I question whether it’s really worth the council investing in marketing the town online.

A Google search for Skegness produces four commercial marketing websites on the first page, including one at the very top of the list.

There’s no shortage of content about Skegness on these sites, and they may not be council-operated but I doubt that makes any difference to the average internet user.

Setting up yet another website doing the same job would seem to me to be a waste of money which, especially at the moment, could be better spent on other things.
