CHILDREN in Burgh le Marsh chimed in with the synchronised chorus of bells which rang out across the nation to herald the 12 hour Olympic count-down on Friday.

Youngsters, parents and staff at the Sunshine Children’s Centre rang their bells at 8.12am, 12 hours before the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony’s symbolic start time of 20.12.

Centre manager Lisa Broomfield said: “We had seen it advertised on TV that the country was joining in with the bell ringing and we thought it was something the children might want to do.

“It was quite noisy but they all enjoyed it - I think the fact that we had the torch here has made them more excited.”

During the build up to the Games the children have also taken part in a number of sporting activities and had the chance to meet one of the torchbearers.
