If at first you don’t succeed try again - that is the motto of Richard Vincent who is making a second attempt to walk from Wales to Skegness.
Richard was forced to abandon the attempt last year when his son Matty suffered a fractured toe two days into the journey. This time Richard is attempting to complete the cross-country challenge solo after Matty has had to drop out due to a recurring injury to his knee from playing football.
Personal trainer Richard will be heading out on the 250-mile trek from Caernarfon on the Welsh coast back home to Skegness on Friday.
He is undertaking the marathon endeavour to raise funds for the Ryan Smith Foundation, which campaigns for cycling safety. The foundation was set up after Chapel St Leonards teenager Ryan suffered severe brain injuries in a collision with a van two years ago. He was not wearing a cycling helmet at the time of the accident.
Richard said: “I’ll be travelling light and running at times, camping out each night and aim to complete the journey within eight days.”
