The ever-popular annual Wainfleet Sleigh Day is just over a week away and organisers have unveiled the many attractions which will be entertaining the crowds.

This year’s annual festivities will be held on Saturday, December 1 until late.

Everything from a Christmas street market to Santa’s Sleigh Parade will be held on the day.

Other attractions include a grand raffle draw, a visit from Santa himself, fairground rides/games and lots of delicious sights and smells.

It all kicks off at 11am with a Christmas Bazaar in the Coronation Hall, with the popular Christmas Market getting underway at noon in Barkham Street.

Also at noon there will be stage entertainment and bands in Magdalen College, a fairground in Market Place, seasonal hot rolls in the Royal Oak and Santas Grotto (noon to 4pm), also in the Royal Oak.

At 1pm horse drawn carriage rides will take place in the market place, and from 1pm to 3pm, the Methodist Chapel will host a festival of Christmas trees and sell soup and rolls/hot drinks.

Children’s entertainment will take place in the Red Lion from 2pm to 4pm, before one of the day’s highlights, the Christmas Sleigh Day Parade, begins at 5pm.

After welcome speeches in the Market Place at 5.45pm, there will be solo singers at 6pm and a carol service at 6.15pm before a grand raffle draw at 7pm.

“Bring the family and have some fun,” said a spokesperson.
