A PROGRAMME launched in East Lindsey to increase the number of people who volunteer in the Cultural Sector has been awarded the Olympic 2012 Inspire Mark.

Culture Force volunteering programme, developed and delivered by East Lindsey District Council, matches volunteers with opportunities that suit their skills and supports organisations in their volunteering needs.

Since it was launched in April, 2011, 237 volunteers have already signed up to support events and initiatives like SO Festival, Friends of Jubilee Park and the Festival of Bathing Beauties.

The combined effort of the volunteers has already provided 3,584 hours of volunteering, worth an estimated £47k to the East Lindsey economy.

Leader of East Lindsey District Council and 2012 Champion for Lincolnshire, Coun Doreen Stephenson, herself a volunteer, said: “Volunteering is a great way to give back to your local area

“I’m delighted that Culture Force has taken off the way it has.”
