Village News: Stickford

AGM - The AGM of Stickford Community Centre will be held on Monday, June 24 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre. New members are invited to volunteer to serve on the committee.

GIFT DAY - St Helen’s Church, Stickford, will be holding a Gift Day on Saturday, June 22 from 10am to noon

Tea and coffee will be available. There is also a large collection of second hand books to browse.

Funds raised will be put towards the replacement of the worm-eaten floorboards and plinths in the choir stalls.

HISTORY - The next meeting of Stickford Local History Group will be on Thursday, June 20 at 7.30pm in Stickford Community Centre.

The speaker will be Rodney Coursins, who will give a talk entitled “Dutch Lincs” about the links that Lincolnshire has with Holland.

There is an admission charge of 50p for members and £2 for non-members, which includes refreshments.

The group will also hold an exhibition in Stickford Community Centre on Saturday, July 6 and Sunday, July 7 from 10.30am until 5pm.

The exhibition will feature photographs, maps and memorabilia of the village of Stickford from times past to more recent years.

A special feature of the exhibition will be a display of family trees compiled by the treasurer, Jill Catchpole.

She said: “It’s been fascinating to see how many families in the village are connected to each other. I’ve also discovered a relative of Sir John Major living in Stickford!”

Chairman, Cheryl Steele, said that the group were hoping that some people still had photos or information about Stickford that they are willing to lend to them.
