Village News: Partney

HARVEST LUNCH - A Harvest Ploughman’s Lunch was held in the Victory Hall in Partney recently, organised by the Victory Hall Committee and friends.

The committee were pleased to welcome new volunteers on board the crew of willing helpers.

Almost 100 customers enjoyed a delicious meal of cooked ham, home-made salads, pickles, coleslaw and jacket potatoes.

They were also served with a fine selection of home-made sweets, tea or coffee.

John Hudson thanked Ann Lovelock and her team of willing volunteer helpers for all their hard work in putting on such a magnificent meal. Some of the housebound villagers were served by a meals on wheels service.

“The whole idea of the luncheon provides a wonderful opportunity for people to meet, have a chat and talk over old times and get all the latest news,” said a spokesperson. “It’s a very essential social element that is sometimes missing in today’s busy lifestyle.

“The profit raised from the luncheon brings in much needed funds to keep the hall going for the village.”

Meanwhile, the arrangements for the 63rd Partney Christmas Fair were also finalised and the date fixed for Saturday, December 1 starting at 2pm.

In addition, by popular demand, the Partney Group Choir will be holding a carol concert Minstrels & Mincepies in the Victory Hall on Friday, December 14 in aid of Choir Funds and the Spilsby Branch of the Royal British Legion.
