CASH - The East Keal Gardening Club has been given £200 under the Councillors’ Community Initiative scheme.
Coun Jim Swanson donated the money to assist in the funding of the refurbishment of a memorial plot.
Situated on the main road in East Keal, the war memorial project was started in the autumn. So far the site has been cleared and numerous spring bulbs have been planted.
Brian Thompson, treasurer of the East Keal Gardening Club said: “We have cleared the area and will start putting the plants in this year.”
“The back of the memorial will be wild flowers and either side of the memorial will be formal.”
Low maintenance patriotic plants of red, white and blue will be planted on either side of the memorial. The grant money will fund a bench and picket fence after the work is done.
