BINGO - There is bingo at the Burgh windmill tea room tonight (Friday, June 21) at 7pm in aid of mill funds. The mill is now open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

PARTY - Burgh Baptist Church will be holding a charity garden party featuring a traditional cream tea and choral selections from the BBC choir this Saturday, June 22 from 2pm to 4pm.

All are welcome to come along for food, friendship and entertainment while helping to raise funds for the church’s Romanian charity REACH and the new church build fund.

MOTHERS - The Mothers’ Union are holding a light lunch in the parish church next Wednesday, June 26 from 11am to 1pm when there will be an exhibition of the garments produced by the Mothers’ Union and friends for the Premature Baby Unit at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital.

QUIZ - A quiz and ploughmans supper will take place this Saturday, June 22. at 7pm in the WI Hall. The cost is £5 a head and bookings can be made on 01754 811159. All proceeds to the WI Hall fund.

WI - At the June meeting of Burgh WI The flowers for the presidents table were brought by Jane Dinsdale.

The Spring Fair brought in £530 and was a huge success.

The speaker for the evening was Darren Garwood who showed a delightful array of photographs which he had taken during his time in the RAF as an official photographer.

His photos showed combat aircraft at home and abroad and these were used as records of military work for the press and also for the military.

His finale was of his time in the Falklands with a film of penguins at sea. A truly uplifting evening.

Bloom of the month winners were M Spence, L Ladd and M Pisaarska. Winners of the competition ‘A Royal Souvenir’ were S Widdowson, P Haynes and L Swatton.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, July 3 when the speaker will be local author Margaret Dickinson. The competition is a birthday card verse.
