AUCTION - Burgh Baptist Church will hold an auction of quality items and household effects on Saturday, November 17, with viewing from 1pm before the auction commences at 2pm.

Proceeds are in aid of the new church build project and donations of quality items are gladly accepted. Tea and coffee will be served.

BARN - The barn dance workshop is this Friday, November 9 at 7.30pm in the WI hall.

BOOKWORMS - The Bookworms will next meet tomorrow (Thursday) at 7pm in Burgh Baptist Church.

CAR - Burgh Voluntary Car Scheme urgently seeks new drivers and a coordinator from Burgh le Marsh and District to help keep this vital community service running.

The current team of drivers, which includes members of Burgh le Marsh Town Council, has been greatly reduced due to health problems, limiting the service’s availability.

Drivers’ hours can be arranged to suit and the service covers the cost of the required CRB checks. For more details contact Burgh Forward Group Chairman Jim Dodsworth on 01754 810866.

EVENTS - At a meeting of Burgh le Marsh town council members resolved to accept the Burgh Events Committee’s proposals for a Community Christmas Weekend in December.

Saturday, December 15 will see the town’s historic Windmill site transformed to host Santa’s Grotto and a carols sing-along with hog roast, prize raffle and more from 3pm.

On Sunday, December 16 the festivities migrate to the Village Hall for a crafts fair with food and entertainment from 10am.

FLOWERS - Flowers were presented to Doris Vickers last Tuesday, who has retired after many years faithful service as a volunteer at the community tea room.

HISTORY - Wartime memories 1939 to 1945 will be the subject at the History Group meeting next Monday, November 12 at 7.30pm in the tea room at the windmill. The speaker will be Margaret Jessop.

HOLIDAY - Burgh Holiday Club members have a few seats available for the coach trip to Holland next April 17 to 21.

There will be excursions to the Aalsmeer flower market, the bulb fields at Lisse, the city of Amsterdam including a canal ride, visits to a clog maker, cheese maker and of course the windmills for which Holland is so famous.

There will also be visits to the fishing village of Volendam and Markham, the Keukenhof flower gardens and the flower parade.

MOTHERS - Instead of their monthly meeting the Mothers Union are holding a light lunch in the parish church of St Peter and Paul next Wednesday, November 14 between noon and 2pm.

The cost is £3.50 by ticket only, available from Mrs Pashley or Mrs Fieldman.

PHOTOGRAPHY - The next meeting of the photography group will be this Friday, November 9 at 7pm at Burgh Baptist Church and is open to all.

PLANNING - There will be a meeting of the planning committee of Burgh le Marsh Town Council on Friday, November 16 at 6.30pm in the Wesley Room, Burgh Methodist Church on Jackson’s Lane.

The meeting will consider amendments to application S/023/00795/12 in respect of residential development at land adjacent to Ash Barn, Hall Lane and in respect of residential development, at land off Wainfleet Road under application S/023/02192/12.

There will be a public session during the first 10 minutes to hear views on the proposals.

Plans and applications are available to view at the Council Chamber on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10.30am to 1pm, and will also be available to view before the meeting.

PRAYER - Burgh Baptist Church will be holding a prayer walk around the town on Sunday, November 11. The walk will assemble in the church at 9am and all are welcome to join in this opportunity to pray for the people and places of Burgh. For more details contact Colin on 811260.

REMEMBRANCE - The Remembrance Sunday service will take place in St Peter and Paul Parish church this Sunday, November 11 at 9.45am with a family and parade eucharist followed by the act of remembrance at the war memorial.

SAUSAGE - A sausage and mash supper and entertainment will take place in the Village Hall on Saturday, November 17 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 and available from Chris Bassford or Misty Culpin. Proceeds to the Poppy fund.

SHOPPING - There are a few seats available on the Burgh Monday Club. A shopping trip will go to Doncaster on Wednesday, November 21 leaving Burgh at 9am. The cost is £8. Please telephone 810549 for further details.
