Thrill-seekers are being promised the time of their lives at Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells for their 21st birsthday - on a ride that left onlookers gasping when it opened.

G-Force, which suffered a few teething problems over the Bank Holiday weekend, is back in action.

It stands at a whopping 164ft in height and has a spinning arm that accelerates 16 passengers to astonishing speeds of up to 95kph.

In spite of the weekend’s breakdown, a spokeman for Fantasy Island said staff had the situation completely under control.

Paige Megan Harris, marketing communications co-ordinator, said: “Over the weekend, a safety trigger caused the ride to go into slow and safe mode. The safety procedure was handled professionally and our qualified team ensured that the health and safety of our customers was priority at all times.

“Customers were given an explanation of the process while our maintenance team manually ‘parked’ the ride so that they could egress safely.

“The ride did exactly as it was designed to do in this situation and was back in operation within half an hour following additional precautionary safety checks.”

The 21st birthday celebrations will see £5 ride all day unlimited wristbands for all age groups.

There will be children’s entertainment and we’re open between 11am-6pm.
