Storm force easterly winds have wrought havoc on footpaths on the coast in the last few days, whipping up the sand and blocking footways in many places.

The paths along Skegness Beach are under several feet of sand in isolated spots this morning (Saturday).

People viewing photos of the sand on the Standard’s Facebook page said it was “the worst I’ve seen it” along that stretch of beach.

Others said “that’s going to take some shifting”.

Volunteers and local councils periodically clear the beach footways, and were seen doing so just days ago. Now all of their hard work has been undone, and with just a week until Easter brings holidaymakers flocking to the coast, it is probably going to be a busy few days for the clean-up crews.
