Valentine’s ball raises charity cash

A VALENTINE’S ball hosted by the Mayor of Skegness Coun Steve Kirk looks set to raise more than £1,500 for two worthy local causes.

A packed ballroom at the North Shore Hotel, Skegness, enjoyed a romantic night with their Valentines, a three course meal and cabaret entertainment.

Coun Kirk was delighted with the turn out on Saturday and the donations made to his two chosen charities - the St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

He said: “The Valentine’s Ball was superb - we were due to finish at 1am but that time came and went and people were still dancing, drinking and enjoying themselves.”

Proceeds from the night were still being tallied up at the time the Standard went to press but Coun Kirk was optimistic that the night would exceed £1,500 and would like to thank all of those who helped make it possible.

Coun Kirk had promoted the event to fellow councillors, several of whom attended.
