Friday, 11.30pm: Two of the three people who died in a head-on collision between Hogsthorpe and Chapel St Leonards yesterday (Thursday) have been named locally.
Social media reports have given their identities as Sean Glover and Marcus Shaw.
Formal identification has yet to take place, police have said.
Friday, 9am: Three people have been killed and two seriously injured in a head-on collision between Hogsthorpe and Chapel St Leonards yesterday evening (Thursday).
Emergency services were called a stretch of the A52, near the junction with Skegness Road, at about 7pm where a black Renault Clio had been in collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra.
The driver of the Astra, a man believed to be aged 70 and from South Yorkshire, was killed as was the driver of the Renault Clio, a 21 year old local man. The front seat passenger in the Clio, a 19 year old local man was also killed.
Two other passengers from the Clio were injured, one, a 23 year old local man was taken to Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries and the other, a 21 year old local man was taken to Grimsby hospital.
A third vehicle, a Vauxhall Corsa driven by a young woman was not involved in the collision. The road was closed until about 3.15am. This brings to 23 the number of people killed on Lincolnshire’s roads so far this year compared with 24 at the same time last year. Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area and either saw the collision itself or either of the vehicles before the collision to contact 101 or the collision hotline on 01522 558855.
