Police fear a major fire at a disused adventure park in Skegness may be arson.

An investigation was launched after the police were called to The Lost World on North Parade, which is no longer open to the public, around 5am this morning,

The fire crews have brought the fire under control and nobody was injured as a result. However, severe damage was caused to a wooden building and its contents.

Police say it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately and they investigating it as arson.

A number of enquiries were carried out this morning and investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in connection with the incident, or anyone who has any information in relation to it.

One witness has described “cracking and banging noises” coming from the former Fun City site when the blaze took hold.

He said: “I was on my way to work when I saw the fire engines heading towards the sea front, so I followed them.

“When I passed there was cracking and banging noises coming from the blaze.”

* Firefighters were called to a second fire along the coast at lunchtime today.

Two crews were called to the fire in the toilets of a public house in Sea Lane, Ingoldmells, at 12.26pm.
