We highlight pot hole-riddled stretch of the A52

Poor road surface on A52 at Croft Bank.

Travelling to Skegness along the A52 can drive you potty... there’s certainly enough potholes and bumps in the road.

With numerous complaints being raised by readers, we decided to see just how bad the road was by strapping a video camera to the front of a car.

And while the stretch from Boston to Wainfleet all in all provided a smooth ride for our reporter, by the time we hit Croft it was a different story.

But there is some light at the end of the tunnel after Lincolnshire County Council, which is responsible for highways, confirmed improvement works are to be carried out.

Andrew Ratcliffe, area highways manager, said: “We are planning to carry out reconstruction and resurfacing works at Croft between Wainfleet and Skegness. These works are likely to be undertaken after the summer holiday season and will require major diversions as the road will have to be closed while the works are under way.”

After publishing the video on our website and to Facebook we received numerous comments highlighting other bad stretches of road.

Markielincs commented on our website: “You want to do the same on the A52 north of Skegness. The potholes and sunken drain covers, especially near Co-op and North Shore are disgusting.

“You need to spend more time watching the road surface and dodging the suspension wrecking road than you do watching the traffic... It is a total disgrace and has been for years
now.”

On Facebook Mandy Roberts wrote: “They should run it along Roman Bank from Skegness to Hogsthorpe, there will be no suspension left.”

Gemma Bagley, also on Facebook: “I travel the A52 road every day for work and Croft Bank is horrendous.”
