A VAN driver had what appeared to be a lucky escape this afternoon (Thursday) after their van was blown over on the A52 at Friskney.

The white van, from Express Glazing Supplies, went off the road and rolled onto its side at around 1.45pm.

Witnesses said a strong gust of wind caught the vehicle and forced it off the road. The driver appeared to escape with minor injuries.

The accident comes just hours after residents in and around the county woke up to chaotic scenes.

Police said over 40 trees had been felled in the county by last night’s gale force winds, which reached speeds of over 70mph.

A house in Sleaford lost its roof, while over in Willoughby a large horse shed was blown onto Alford Road by a huge gust shortly before midnight.
