Stranded youngsters in rural areas will be able to claim free bus fares every Monday during the summer holidays in a bid to help them access fun activities while they’re off.
Lincolnshire County Council’s CallConnect service, is launching a Monday Miles initiative for youngsters aged five to 17 to help them have fun with their friends over the six week break.
“All teenagers look forward to the summer holidays but that can wear off pretty quickly if you live in a rural area and getting anywhere, and certainly to see your mates, takes time and organisation,” said CallConnect manager Paul Sanders. “CallConnect can help.”
CallConnect operates ‘demand-responsive’ services in rural areas not visited by the regular bus routes.
Youngsters hoping to take advantage of the free initiative, once registered, can call the booking centre to arrange their journey at a time of their convenience.
“We hope that young people all over Lincolnshire will make use of our distinctive purple buses to get them where they want to go in the forthcoming holiday,” added Mr Sanders.
