Firefighters from Skegness needed to use bolt croppers to cut barbed wire to free a casualty from a crashed vehicle.

The collision was reported at about 7.31am this morning (Thursday) on Hides Lane, Addlethorpe.

A fire service spokesman explained that the car had skidded on ice and landed in a ditch where there was an amount of barbed wire preventing the woman driver from escaping.

The spokesman said: “Crews used bolt croppers to cut barb wire to allow the casualty to get out of the car.”

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were notified by Lincolnshire Fire, however, after arriving on scene the patient required no treatment.”
