Alford man dies after car crashes into water-filled ditch

A twenty-two-year-old Alford man died after the car he was driving crashed into a water-filled ditch in New Leake.

The incident took place yesterday (Sunday) in Fodder Dyke Bank at about 8.35am and the driver was certified dead at the scene.

The man was the sole occupant of the black Peugeot 206 GTI and no other vehicle is said to have been involved in the incident.

The road was closed until just before 4.30pm.

This brings the number of people killed on the roads of Lincolnshire in 2014 to 25 compared to 24 at the same point in 2013.

Six people have now died on Lincolnshire’s roads in the space of less than a week.
