The aunt of a poorly youngster set up a family fun day in the hope of relieving some of the financial pressure and emotional strain on her family.

Nikki Parker from Winthorpe held the day at The Moody Cow on Saturday, July 27 for her 10-year-old niece Ella Morrison whose grandparents live in Ingoldmells.

A whooping £4,158.70 was collected from all the events including; a whole host of entertainment, bouncy castle, barbecue, disco and more.

The day also included a tombola, auctions, face painting and a huge bungee jump challenge which gave people the chance to be sponsored to do it or pay on the day for the ultimate thrill.

“The day and certainly the amount absolutely exceeded my expectations, there’s still more coming in too, we are so grateful to the community, the local people, the pub and those who came and helped,” said Nikki,

Ella, who is the eldest of four siblings, and currently living in London, was diagnosed with a tumour in the stomach area. After her first treatment of Chemotherapy, the cancer unfortunately spread to other areas and organs and a year-and-a-half later, treatments have stopped.

But the money will help Nikki’s sister Zoe Weedon support her daughter for the trips to hospital and household bills, rent and more.

“We presented the cheque to my sister and my family last Saturday, she was overwhelmed and could not believe how much was raised or how big the event actually was,” said Nikki.

“There was hundreds who stopped by all day long, it was a great event,” she added.

The money will help provide fun activities and relieve some financial pressures while Ella is still with them.

Zoe and her family have already arranged to go to Legoland and have booked a theatre trip.

Nikki, her sister Zoe and the family wish to express their thanks to the community and everyone who helped.
