Talk looks at Chapel history

AN EVENT looking back at wartime Chapel St Leonards will be taking place shortly.

It has been organised by the Lincolnshire Coastal Grazing Marshes Project, which looks into area’s cultural and historical elements.

Over the next three years, the project will look at an area surrounding Saltfleetby, Huttoft, Anderby and Burgh le Marsh.

A special event will be taking place on August 19 from 10am to 2pm, when there will be a collection of World War Two memorabilia.

It is being held at Chapel St Leonards Village Hall where there will be activities for the children, and a talk from guest speakers Tom Ambridge and Brian Hall, who are the grandsons of May Hill.

May wrote a diary of her wartime memories in Chapel, and extracts from her life have been brought together in the form of books and ebooks. You can view May’s fascinating diaries at www.ambridgebooks.co.uk/mayhilldiaryblog or go to the diary’s page on Facebook.
