Palms Tai Chi Club finished the year with a Christmas dinner at Poppy’s, Burgh Road, Skegness.
Many members gained sashes and stripes over the last year for achieving levels of expertise in using weapons, such as the Bo-staff, a 7 foot pole, Jo-staff, a 4 foot pole, and with exercises using fans, ribbons and rulers.
The club is affiliated to the International Budo Association. Al Friedle, a fourth Dan from the IBA, was invited to the Christmas dinner and to present awards to the following Skegness members.
Mike Hewkin and Irene Jephcott were awarded shields for Improvement in Tai chi and general helpfulness in teaching others.
Pat Warner awarded the shield for the greatest number of attendances in the past year.
Maggie Dunn - brown sash, blue Sword stripe and orange Bo-staff stripe, and Vivian Sloan orange Bo-staff stripe.
Mablethorpe members Melanie Howlett and Pat Bisset were awarded the orange Ribbon stripe.
Palms Tai Chi Club is closed for the winter and reopens February 2 at 10am at the County Hotel, Skegness and February 6 at 10.30 am at the Sports Centre, Station Road, Mablethorpe. Anyone wishing to join can come along.
