A DOUBLE vandalism attack on Spilsby Recreation Ground has left it with a substantial deficit in this year’s budget.
Twice in two months the steel support of a floodlight was sawn through and pulled to the ground.
Repairing the first incident cost £260 but it was then damaged again on the same night the repairs had been finished.
Fortunately football clubs have still been able to use the facilities as there are three other floodlights to light the hard surface games area, however the light will still need replacing at more expense to the recreation ground.
With the budget for the recreation ground barely covering its general running costs the vandalism comes as a major blow.
To enable more people to enjoy the recreation ground there will be a new age kurling event on Friday March 4.
The game is open to all levels of abilities and if the session proves successful it is hoped that a club can be formed to play competitively against other local teams.
The session starts at 7pm and runs until 9pm.
