Spilsby WI in 69th birthday milestone

SPILSBY WI members celebrated their group’s 69th anniversary at their recent June Meeting.

During the meeting guest speaker, Dave Bussey, talked about his life in radio.

He first started broadcasting on board Ark Royal whilst serving in the Navy.

He went on to present programmes for BBC Radio 2 and eventually Radio Lincolnshire.

“His stories are well worth listening to and quite hilarious,” said a spokesperson.

“He now gives talks to societies, media students and does ‘voice-overs’ for various companies.”

The members ended the evening with a ‘Cheese and Wine’ event.

The meeting’s competition focussed on old radio paraphernalia.

It was judged by Dave. The winner was Rebecca Challis, with Sylvia Lanson in second and Marlene Tagg in third.

Spilsby WI’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, July 12 when guest speaker Stephen Hyde will talk about LIVES.
