Spilsby U3A is celebrating success after their application to run a series of digital photography & computers courses was given a £3,227 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

Colin Gray, U3A Chairman, said: “This successful application is really wonderful news and will now allow us to run digital photography courses for our members. The thrust of the application was to combine outdoor activity with developing photography and computer skills. This new, exciting and innovative project will begin in the New Year”.

David Stonehouse, webmaster and author of the lottery bid, said “We are in the Age of the Internet and we think everyone, regardless of their age, can benefit from learning how to use a digital camera or computer.

“We have had such demand from people who want to share digital photographs with their family and friends and even to join social media websites where their photographs or videos can be viewed”.

John Crowhurst, U3A Treasurer, said: “Each course participant will learn how to use digital cameras for both still and video photography. They will learn how to upload these on to a computer where the image can be modified, improved and stored.

“They will learn how to attach these to emails, upload the photographs on to the internet and post them on social media websites such as Twitter or Facebook”.
