Mayor of Spilsby Peter Grant has made a donation on behalf of the town council for £200 for East Lindsey Citizens Advice Bureau

Spilsby Town Council has continued to support the bureau for some years in their work to help the residents with financial and personal problems.

Coun Grant presented the cheque to East Lindsey CAB acting chief officer Jenny Barnett at Louth Citizens Advice Bureau last month.

As there is no CAB presence in Spilsby, residents contact either Louth or Skegness office when they have a problem. The offices are mainly run by volunteers, who give freely of their time, to help maintain the service within the area. There are currently around 30 volunteers, some working up to three days per week.

Due to the depth of advice and in order to recruit and train new volunteers and continue to develop existing staff, considerable funding is required.

Main enquiries currently dealt with are benefits, debt and housing although there are many other issues which local residents encounter.

Anyone wishing to contact CAB should call 03444 111 444 or go to one of the drop in sessions at Meridian House, Eastgate, Louth. For advice online visit:www.adviceguide.org.uk
