THE Spilsby branch of the Royal British Legion held its June meeting last week at the Red Lion in Spilsby.

Members had attended the New Memorial Dedication Service at RAF Spilsby earlier in June. Branch members helped escort RAF Veterans who laid wreaths at the memorial.

Meanwhile, the branch’s tombola stall at the Queen’s jubilee celebrations in Spilsby at the start of the month “went very well”.

“Thanks go to everyone who provided prizes and supported us on the day,” said a spokesperson.

“Special thanks to Spilsby Butchers, Spilsby Fish Shop, Butlins Spar, Spilsby Sainsbury’s, Turning Heads, and Lincolnshire Co-op, all who provided vouchers.”

Members also recently joined with Wainfleet, Skegness, and Grimsby for an outing to RAF Scampton on Thursday, June 14.

Everyone had a very enjoyable day. Joining in with the Tea Dance and watching a spectacular performance by the Red Arrows.

The branch’s annual garden party will be held at Toad Hall, Candlesby this Sunday, July 1 at 2pm.

Mareham-Le-Fen Silver Band will be performing and refreshments will be available. A raffle and tombola will be held. Everyone is welcome.

The Branch Standard will be leading the parade at the Spilsby Show on Sunday, July 8.

“Please support the branch by joining in the parade. Meet at the showground at 11.30am,” added the spokesperson.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 18 at 7.30pm at the Red Lion in Spilsby.

New members are welcome.
