A Skegness Olympic torchbearer travelled to Leicester recently to meet up with around 140 fellow torch holders for a special gathering.

Glennis Rogerson, from Skegness, attended the special ball on October 20, which gave those present a chance to share their Olympic stories and generally meet each other.

“Coco-Cola, the sponsors, had set up a Facebook site and we had been talking together since February but not met,” said Glennis. “The group, now called the Afterburners, welcome any torchbearers who would like to join them and are setting up weekend meetings to meet and greet each other.

“The weekends include meal, dancing etc. Please get in touch with me on rainbowchoices@btinternet.com if interested, stating your name, contact details and date and where you carried the torch and your number.”

Glennis is available to talk to any group, club or home about her personal story, the history of the torch etc.
