UPDATE 16:45 The coastguard has stood down from its search for an 80-year-old dementia sufferer, missing in Skegness while police officers focus inland.

Skegness Coastguard Station’s deputy manager Colin Peet said his crew had searched the coast from Gibraltar Point to North Shore but to no avail.

“With people in her situation it can get very serious very quickly so we hope she is found soon,” he said.

Maureen Miller was last seen at The Boardwalk cafe on Tower Esplanade at around noon wearing a cream cardigan and a grey and pink shirt.

Mr Peet says Mrs Miller had been visiting the town with a care home from Leicester and believes it is ‘unlikely’ that she has been on the beach.

Lincolnshire Police is continuing its search inland.
