A Skegness pensioner who downloaded hundreds of child porn videos and photographs has been jailed at Lincoln Crown Court.

David Moore was identified by police as having accessed the images and when officers raided his home in December 2015 they discovered that he had copied a number of the images onto compact disks.

Rosemary Kavanagh, prosecuting, said the images showed children as young as six years old being sexually abused.

Moore claimed he had not downloaded the images on purpose.

Miss Kavanagh added “Mr Moore was arrested. He apologised to his wife.”

A total of 843 indecent images of children were found on his computer equipment including 224 classified in the most serious category. Officers also found a number of extreme pornographic images.

Moore, 66, of Kime Court, Skegness, admitted three charges of producing indecent images of children on dates between 15 March 2003 and 14 August 2015. He also admitted possession of extreme pornography between March 15, 2003, and November 23, 2009.

He was jailed for six months and placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.

Judge Simon Hirst, passing sentence, told him, “The seriousness is that these offences are not victimless. Children are sexually abused around the world to produce these images. Viewing them creates a market and fuels the sexual abuse of children.”

James Gray, in mitigation, said his client denied having an interest in indecent images of children.

“He is 66 years old and is terminally ill. He has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His days are numbered.”
