Skegness firefighters scrub up for charity

Fire Crew from the Skegness area joined up with other Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue teams to hold a day of fundraising on Saturday, (March 14)

Firefighters joined by the Skegness Fire Cadets donned their Marigolds and lathered up their sponges to wash cars in the in the brigades largest fundraising event of the year.

Crews from across the county are busy holding similar events in the coming weeks, equipped with sponges and soap ready to clean cars in return for a donation to The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity helps support serving and retired firefighters and their families.

Firefighters are working hard to beat the £3,904 raised from the September 2014 car wash.

With 12 stations taking part this year, there is plenty of opportunity to get your car washed in your area.

Members of fire crew in Skegness were helped by the Skegness fire cadets in their car wash at the Tesco supermarket in Skegness and their efforts will go to hopefully beating last year’s total.

They raised £326 for the firefighters charity, which will be match funded by Barclays

Other Stations due to take part include:

- Grantham – March 21, Grantham station, from 10am.

- Gainsborough – March 28, Tesco, from 11am.

- Boston – March 28, Oldrids, from 10am.
