Preparations are underway at the Hildreds Shopping Centre in Skegness to help raise money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
During Lifeboat Week, July 20 – 25, the centre will once again display its iconic 16ft model of the ‘Lincolnshire Poacher’ lifeboat to increase awareness of the charity.
The superb craftsmanship of the ‘Lincolnshire Poacher’ has to date helped to raise in excess of £800,000 for the RNLI.
Speaking about the upcoming display, centre manager, Steve Andrews, said: “The ‘Lincolnshire Poacher’ was built in 1992 by the Hildreds Shopping Centre’s staff to educate people about the potential dangers of the sea and the dedication shown by the RNLI.
“This event is the highlight of the Lifeboat calendar in Skegness and The Hildreds is proud to support the RNLI in everything they do. We hope they raise thousands of pounds over the week which will help to keep this vital service afloat throughout the year. Jolly John the animated Lifeboat Coxswain will also be in the mall singing sea shanties and telling stories to people passing by.”
