A presentation night has been held to congratulate and bid farewell to a senior Skegness cadet who has secured a guaranteed place at The Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.

Alex Schofield was congratulated for his dedication, determination and drive during his career with the Skegness Detachment.

Alex, who is the cadet’s RSM, began at the age of 12 and although described as shy as a youngster, he has grown into a successful young man.

“I am very proud of Alex, you don’t get many teenagers like him. He has achieved a lot,” said Jim Nisbet, Detachment Commander.

“I will be sad to see him go because he has done so well and you don’t often have a cadet receive a scholarship and get a guaranteed place at Sandhurt,” he said.

The teenager, who is also the most senior cadet of Lincolnshire cadet force, will be going to university then attending Sandhurt where he has a place to train as an army officer.

“Hundreds apply, he’s gone from the bottom right to the top,” added Jim Nisbet.
