The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is inviting potential lifesavers to attend beach lifeguard try-outs in Skegness and Lincoln.
The recruitment sessions will take place at the Embassy Pool in Skegness om Monday, February 16 between 2.30pm and 3.30pm and Tuesday, February 17 from 7.30pm to 8.30pm at the Yarborough Leisure Centre, Lincoln.
Candidates will be asked to complete a swimming test to see if they can swim 400 metres in under seven minutes and 30 seconds.
RNLI lifeguard supervisor Sam Kendrick said: “Ideally candidates should be strong swimmers, but there is some flexibility if people don’t quite make the swim time – as we’ll be on hand to offer helpful tips on how they can go faster.”
The charity, in partnership with East Lindsey District Council, will again be providing the summer lifeguard cover on the beaches at Mablethorpe, Sutton-on-sea, Skegness and Ingoldmells.
RNLI lifeguards are trained to a high standard in lifeguard skills, first aid and casualty care. A key part of the job is to spot dangers before they develop and 95 per cent of the role is preventative
The role provides an opportunity to make new friends and develop CV-enhancing skills while helping thousands of beach goers to have a safe and enjoyable visit to the seaside.
RNLI lifeguards earn a competitive rate of pay and can work up to 48 hours per week, with casual and part-time hours available. The minimum age for applicants is 16.
Sam added: “Anyone who passes the swimming test can be enrolled on a free lifeguard course in April - so the try-outs could provide the first step on a path to a rewarding summer job with a difference.”
