Members of the Girls’ Brigade 1st Alford Company represented Girls’ Brigade England and Wales at the Remembrance Day parade in London this year, marching in the parade and laying a wreath at the Cenotaph.

A total of 30 officers and girls were selected nationally to represent Girls Brigade England and Wales and 1st Alford were fortunate enough to receive seven places.

The group travelled to London at the weekend with company captain Michelle Arthurton and other staff, taking with them a second wreath from the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Skegness who had given a donation towards the cost of the weekend.

They were unable to place the second wreath on the Cenotaph due to high security so they placed it near the First World War ceramic poppy display at the Tower of London.
