There was some ghostly goings-on as South Wold Hunt South Pony Club held its Halloween Rally at Dovecote Farm Bicker Fen, Boston.

It was attended by 15 children, ponies and their family’s. All the children, aged between five and 14, wore fancy dress and took part in gymkhana games under the watchful eye of instructor Kate Knight. The group rode their ponies to neighbouring residents for trick or treating. One local who had lived in the fen for over 70 years said she had never had trick or treaters come to her door and it was wonderful to see so many children and ponies having fun.

Residents supplied the children with sweets and the ponies with mints and chose their favourite fancy dress costume which was won by Olivia Storer dressed as a skeleton.

After a buffet lunch and pumpkin carving the children enjoyed team games including doughnut eating competition and mummifying each other with tissue paper. The day was a huge success and everyone went home with rosettes and sweets.
