UKIP is expected to announce its candidate for Boston and Skegness today...and it is not expected to be deputy chairman Neil Hamilton.
The party held a hustings event at Batemans Brewery on Thursday night but chose not to announce the winner afterwards, saying it wished to wait for party bosses to ratify the decision.
Sources close to the selection process suggest that Hamilton, a former Tory minister, withdrew before the event.
Hamilton was hotly tipped to be chosen to fight for the seat after announcing his intention to stand to The Standard earlier this year.
It is believed another contender withdrew from the race in frustration at the selection process.
Boston and Skegness is set to be a key target for the party, with a recent poll it commissioned from Survation putting them 20 points ahead of the Conservatives on 46 per cent.
