The Minister for Sport and Tourism has visited Skegness and Boston.

Hugh Robertson MP visited the two towns after an invite from local MP Mark Simmonds.

The Minister first went to Butlin’s where he met with representatives of the Skegness tourism industry and discussed issues facing local businesses.

Mr Simmonds, who later met up with Mr Robertson in Boston, said: “I was delighted that Hugh accepted my invitation to visit my constituency and to see some of the excellent work that is being done there.

“Hugh’s visit to Skegness, arranged by me, was an opportunity for local business owners to discuss their concerns with the tourism Minister and I know that everyone involved found the meeting valuable.”

After his visit to Butlin’s the minister then travelled to Boston where he was met by Mr Simmonds MP.

The two MPs visited Tower Road Primary School and were given a tour of the school’s new sports facilities, which the minister formally opened.

The two Ministers then went straight to Wyberton Sports and Social Club where the Sports Minister opened the brand new changing rooms which will improve access to the club for members and the local community.

Mr Simmonds added: “I was also very pleased that Hugh was able to see the significant investment that Tower Road Academy has put into its sports facilities.

“The children at Tower Road are incredibly lucky to have so many sporting options available to them, and I know that Hugh was very impressed by what he saw.

“Wyberton Sports and Social Club have worked very hard to raise the money required for their new changing rooms and I am pleased that their efforts have paid off and were recognised by a Government Minister.”
