Still to perform this Sunday on Skegness beach, is the world-renowned Garsington Opera.
The tale of Humperdrinck’s Hansel and Gretel will be performed on the beach via video feed as part of this year’s SO Festival. The company were one other highlights of last year’s show and are back for more this Sunday,(July 7) between 2pm and 4pm.
Speaking last time, a spokesperson said: “So Festival’s giant beach screen will be broadcast this magical retelling of the classic fairy tale, transporting viewers to a dream world of lost children, spell-bound forests and the ultimate triumph of good over evil.”
The opera will feature a principle cast of seven singers, five actors/dancers, and a chorus of 16 children from Trinity BoysChoir joined with Old Palace Choir, along with a 50-person orchestra and set design including 40 felled trees, a giant book made of carpet and canvas, and a forest floor covered in over 3,000 bark chippings. The performance will be broadcast in German with English subtitles.
