Obituary - Sylvia Edith Digby

FORMER landworker Sylvia Edith Digby has died at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, aged 90.

Ms Digby, who was born in Wath-Upon-Dearne, South Yorkshire, and lived at Noss Mayo Care Home, Burgh le Marsh, was the widow of the late Cyril Digby.

She leaves daughter and son-in-law Glynice and Roy Brummitt, daughter and son-in-law Marcia and Maurice Dean, granddaughter and partner Andrea Brummitt and Steve Wiltshire, granddaughter Melanie Brummitt, granddaughter Zoe Dean, grandson and wife Kevin and Zoe Dean, and great grandchildren Erren and Zak Wiltshire.

Sylvia worked in service at Turners, Tower Gardens, Skegness, and for Mrs Bradley at Wainfleet, as well as working on the land and as a housewife.

In the 1950s, she helped to organise the Wainfleet Bank anniversary event, and also helped to decorate the Wagon and Horses for ‘wagon day’.

She enjoyed bus trips and country and western shows.

The funeral service, conducted by the Rev Cecil Mundy, was held at Wainfleet Methodist Church, followed by committal at Northolme Cemetery.

Family mourners: daughter and son-in-law Glynice and Roy Brummitt, daughter and son-in-law Marcia and Maurice Dean, granddaughter and partner Andrea Brummitt and Steve Wiltshire, granddaughter Melanie Brummitt, granddaughter Zoe Dean, grandson and wife Kevin and Zoe Dean, great grandchildren Erren and Zak Wiltshire, sister Eleanor Wilkinson, brother Ray Blades, sister and brother-in-law Mavis and Horace Pacey, sister-in-law Freda Digby, and nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral directors were Parkers of Wainfleet.
