Has the proliferation of wind turbines, both onshore and offshore, affected the tourism industry in East Lindsey?
Not according to the chairman of Visit East Lincolnshire, Chris Baron, who was asked the question at a tourism press briefing held at Woodthorpe Hall, near Alford, on Thursday.
“I haven’t heard anything negative from guests,”he said. “They seem interested in the windfarm off Skegness which adds perspective to the seascape.”
Mr Baron, who is also director of Butlins in Skegness, suggested that operator Centrica Renewables could provide more information on its interpretive boards to indicate how much energy is being generated on a daily basis.
“It would be interesting to know how efficient and cost-effective they are, and whether they are as beneficial as claimed.”
