CHARITABLE students from a Spilsby school gave an array of beautifully wrapped Christmas presents to help bring a little festive cheer to needy children.

The students from Lady Jane Franklin School brought all the magic of the big day early, when they gave each child at the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Home a gift, last Thursday.

The gifts were made up of donations from the students, staff and their parents from the school, which were collected during the recent months.

Cathy Thompson, teacher, said: “It is an ongoing tradition for us at the school and we have been doing it for a number of years. It is really nice that we are able to help and our students really enjoyed spending time with the children and felt the magic of giving.”

The Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Home is a charity which was established in 1891 to provide disadvantaged Derbyshire children with holidays in Skegness.

It provides around 450 holiday places per season for both boys and girls aged seven to 13-years-old and is completely run through fund-raising.

Ali Byerley, centre manager said: “I want to say a big thank you to the school they help us every year and it has made another brilliant Christmas.”
