A couple who were part of an over 55s bowls tournament were presented with a special Mr and Mrs Jolly Fisherman statue as a mark of their dedication.
The committee presented Jim and Ann Orton with the statues which were made by Donnas Peterson for their seven year service to the tournament and committee.
Ann and Jim are now set to move back to Melton Mowbray to be closer to family and all who knew them, including competitors, fellow committee members and others, wished them a fond farewell.
“We are sorry to see them leave for Melton Mobray but we wish them every happiness and thank them for their hard work on the committee the past years,” a spokesperson said.
The tournament was initiated after the former over 65s bowls tournament came to a close in 2005-2006.
In 2007, the age was lowered to 55 and over, in the hope that more competitors would join and the committee has seen the club go from strength-to-strength.
The tournament has also received competitors from the Netherlands and even from London.
