TWO local causes are £1,200 better off thanks to the generosity of local freemasons.

The Butterfly Hospice and Macmillan Nurses each received £600 in a ceremony last week after Masons from the Lumley Lodge in Skegness and the wider Province of Lincolnshire dug deep into their own pockets.

The money will be used towards the creation of a lodge at the Butterfly Hospice for use by relatives of those using its facilities.

The Macmillan nurses cash, meanwhile, will be spent in the Skegness area.

The money was donated directly by local freemasons - with the Lumley Lodge chipping in £200 to be split between the two causes, and the Province of Lincolnshire handing over the other £1,000.

Mick Robinson, the Worshipful Master at Lumley Lodge said: “We didn’t do any fundraising - all of the money came from within the masons.”
