Work is beginning to take place on a leisure complex in Skegness seven years after it was gutted by fire.

The parade complex in Grand Parade was one of the main nightspots in the town before a fire tore through it in August 2007.

Specialist equipment can now be seen on site used for drilling deep into the ground to enable the foundations to be built.

The new development will be a four-storey building called The Sky Pier and will house an ice rink, roller disco and internet cafe among its attractions and bars including an exclusive ‘ice bar’ made completely out of an ice sculpture and dance floors.

With planning permission granted, it is hoped the first two floors will be finished just before the season starts next year.
