Woman overwhelmed by support after bag is snatched in Burgh-le-Marsh
Anita Sorrell was delivering produce for Boston Sausage on Thursday when she noticed her handbag, containing £40 of unused wedding vouchers as well as her bank cards and cash, was missing. The blue floral bag and Radley purse also contained a Scottish pound note that her father-in-law had given her 35 years earlier.
Anita said: “I realised the bag was missing when I stopped at the Winning Post in Burgh Road. The Spar Shop in Burgh checked on the CCTV and the camera was facing the van doors but no-one opened them.

“It was a horrible week. My mum had just died and my mind was all over the place, but I work for a small company and didn’t want to take any time off. Then on the Tuesday I discovered I had a 55-year-old brother living in Australia, which was quite a shock.
“Whoever stole the bag didn’t waste any time and put £400 on my credit card. You really don’t expect anything like this to happen in a lovely village like Burgh le Marsh.”
Anita hopes other people will be more vigilant after what happened to her. She said: “I’ve been delivering in the area for 13 years and have never had any problems before.
”I hope this will be a lesson to other people to be careful. It’s been a tough few days but I have been overwhelmed by the messages of support on Facebook.”
