VIDEO: Skegness wakes to further overnight snowfalls as winter chill returns

Waiting for Video...

Skegness residents awoke to a slightly surprising layer of snow this morning (Saturday) after the winter chill returned.

Forecasters had predicted the odd wintry shower for the coast overnight and into today.

But with them suggesting the wintry mix would be more like sleet at lower levels, there will have been few on the coast who will have expected to see the winter wonderland scenes that greeted them when they opened their curtains - or the blizzard-like shower which put down the snow at 7.45am.

Further showers - a mix of rain, sleet and snow - are likely today,

Forecasters are also predicting that the Beast from the East may also return again later next week, following a few days of slightly milder weather.
