Video: Skegness and the Wolds area wakes up to winter wonderland after Beast from the East brings heavy snow
People in and around the Skegness area were waking up to snowy scenes on Monday morning after predicted heavy snowfalls duly arrived overnight on Sunday.
The area had hitherto escaped the worst of the so-called ‘Beast from the East’.
And it initially looked like forecasts for snow on Sunday evening were in error, when rain and sleet began to fall shortly after 6pm.
But as the evening wore on the sleet turned into snow, and residents in Skegness woke to around one or two inches of snow on Monday morning.
The snowfall ensured plenty of roads chaos for commuters on Monday morning, and a number of local schools were closed (see separate story).
